TheGroove
After releasing their first single three years ago, pop-jazz band The Groove is back again with a new single, entitled ”Kusambut Hadirmu” (I Welcome Your Presence).

“We have planned to make an album, but our members are still busy with their own things,” Rieka Roslan said.

However, they do not want to delay it any longer.

“Rejos said it was better if we released the single first, and we all agreed to do this before releasing a new album,” she said.

Rieka said unlike other songs she had written, the new single was a little bit different because she used some English lyrics.

“There were some Indonesian terms that could not match the tune, but when I used English, it worked well,” she said

The band performed one of their most famous songs, “Kangen”, with everyone in the audience singing along.

At the end of their performance, Ari, Dhani, Andra, Wawan and Erwin stood next to each other and bowed.

wanda hamidah
A blood and hair test for Jakarta councilor Wanda Hamidah, who was arrested in a drug raid on Sunday, has come back negative for drug use, according to her lawyer.

“She’s [Wanda] clean from narcotics,” said Wanda’s lawyer Hamid Husein adding that the results came out on Monday afternoon even though the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) had not announced the results.

Wanda, 34, a former actress turned councillor for the National Mandate Party (PAN), was one of 17 people arrested during a drug raid at the home of Raffi Ahmad, 25, a television personality, by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) on Sunday morning, where police officers seized 14 capsules and two marijuana joints.

While five people at the party in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, tested positive from initial urine tests — Wanda and Raffi were not one of the five — the BNN said they would have to carry out a more thorough hair follicle test to reveal whether there was any earlier drug use.

According to Hamid, Wanda had only dropped by to Raffi’s house after hanging out with several friends in Kemang, South Jakarta.

Tjatur Sapto Edy, the PAN House chairman, said that he expected the BNN to rehabilitate the good name of Wanda if she tested negative for narcotics.

“When she was arrested by BNN, she remained calm and was not feeling unease like the others, because she has no track record of [drug use],” said Tjatur.

donny damara

Second chances do exist for actor and model Donny Damara.

Once, he was every girl’s dream as his handsome face and sweet smile were almost everywhere: on magazine covers, TV screens and in the cinema. Donny was a top actor back in the 1980s, playing mostly “nice guy” roles. He was nominated for the Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) award for his role as a pilot in Perwira dan Ksatria (Officers and Knights), his last film before the Indonesian film industry collapsed in the 1990s.

After that, very little happened with Donny’s silver-screen career. He appeared in TV soap operas and starred in a few movies but no breakthrough roles came.

Singer Yuni Shara says she does not want to get back together with young actor and TV host Raffi Ahmad — who is 15 years her junior — after their recent and much-publicized breakup.

“Raffi has often asked me to get back together, but I always refuse him,” the 40-year-old songstress said.

She said Raffi had broken her heart too many times and that he could not change.

However, Yuni said she hoped she and Raffi could maintain their professionalism in hosting their show, Yuni-Raffi, on Trans TV.

“I still have a job with Raffi [on the show]. I hope we can stay professional.”

Actress Bunga Citra Lestari, popularly known as BCL, says that she wants to go back to the city of Aachen in Germany, following the time she spent there shooting Ainun Habibie. In the film, she plays former first lady Hasri Ainun Habibie, the late wife of former president BJ Habibie.

“It was my first time in the city and I wish I could go back there. The city wasn’t crowded, much different from Jakarta,” said the 29-year-old wife of Malaysian actor Ashraf Sinclair.

Bunga said that she very much enjoyed her time shooting in the city. “I woke up at three in the morning every day but I never felt tired. I only got tired the moment I returned to Jakarta.”

Ainun Habibie is directed by Faozan Rizal and also stars young actor Reza Rahadian as BJ Habibie. It is scheduled to be released later this year.
